Women’s Connect August 2020

Rachel Greene   -

A note from Rachel Greene…

I remember how it felt being new to Christ Community back in 2015. I can still picture looking around the foyer after service looking for the few familiar faces I knew, missing how connected I had been in our previous church before moving to Ames, and realizing this ‘connection’ stuff is going to take some time and effort. Thankfully, my sister in law invited me to go with her to the Women’s Ministry Fall Kick Off after we had been attending Christ Community for a few months. I was relieved because I didn’t want to go alone. At the Kick Off I sat at a table and met some new ladies and felt loved and encouraged. I definitely felt more at ease having someone there with me. I can still remember being moved by the speaker, who was host on a local Christian radio station, and in the end I was so glad I went. It helped me make deeper connections to the church and the women’s ministry.

Maybe this sounds like you. Or perhaps you can think of someone you know who is new to church and might just need that nudge of encouragement to join you in coming out to an event? Or maybe you have a heart to mentor and connect to women who are younger in their faith and desire a place to do so. If so, now is a great time to sign up here for our Kick Off, September 13th!

We will meet outdoors this year and enjoy the beauty of creation together at Moore Memorial Park from 4-5:30 on Sept 13th. The program will include introducing our theme for the year, A Better Word. We will also hear from a panel of ladies about what God did in their hearts during this season of COVID. Ministry signups will be available at the end of the program and we will feature things like Fall Bible Study, Caffeine and Chaos, Needle Crafting for Others, and Soul to Sole. Snacks will be provided.

Bible Study

Our fall Bible Study, Rhythms of Renewal, is just around the corner and registrations are now open for Wednesday evenings or Thursday mornings. This is an opportunity to spend time in the Word together as women, encourage one another, share our ‘tough stuff’ and pray together. This weekly study, also known as ‘Yada’, has been life giving to countless women over the years. ‘Yada’ is Hebrew for ‘to know and be known’ and this is our heart and purpose for the group. We pray each lady walks away feeling known and loved in a deeper way each week.

Wednesday nights(6:30-8:00) starts Sept 16th

A note from the Needle Crafting For Others Team

Even though we are not meeting in person due to COVID, we are still making knitted, crocheted, and sewn items for a variety of service organizations here in Ames and Story Co. If you have yarn or fabric to donate or if you need supplies or patterns to work on at home please contact Joan Traylor at 515-459-3835 or traylor.joan@gmail.com.

We’ll get back together as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are interested in having a NC4O zoom gathering, please let Joan know. We miss you!

Mark your calendars!

Praise S’more is coming up on September 29th from 7:30-9:00pm. We will gather around a bonfire at Shana Wilson’s home and enjoy a of acoustic worship, a devotion, and s’mores. You can register here.
