Leaving a Legacy
Leaving a legacy. We all want to do that, right? Nichole Nordeman says it well in her song, Legacy:
I want to leave a legacy,
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to you enough?
To make a mark on things
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace
Who blessed your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy.
Christ Community has been over-the-top blessed (see 2 Samuel 7:18-19) with men and women who have left a legacy of faith for others to see and follow. They have left an indelible mark on people by pointing them well to Jesus the Savior.
One example of this is Dave Eggerts. David has faithfully ministered with Cru/Bridges International since 1981, with his home base being Iowa State since 1992. But Dave had a difficult decision to make early on: do I follow Jesus into the Great Commission wherever he may lead, or do I instead choose to go in the path of least resistance with my parents? As you watch and listen to his video, I pray that you too will be emboldened in your desire to leave a godly legacy for others to follow!
