There is “iron sharpening iron” in such discussions. Truths can sink it; values can be shaped; Christlikeness can be formed.
3 Insider Insights:
GOAL: This week’s Connect Group experience is about exploring the often-noted difference between “happiness” and “joy.” Any search of thoughtful articles and blogs draws a distinction between the two. AS THE LEADER, think through the difference between these two words BEFORE you convene with the group. Your clarity about the contrast can be helpful in prompting good discussion.
A GREAT VERSE highlighting the role of JOY in Jesus’ life is found in Hebrews 12:2
“Let us run the race…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Notice how Jesus focused on future, “coming joy” to have the endurance to make it through very unhappy, present circumstances.
APPLY – explore if helpful whatever unhappy circumstances any in your group may be going through, and discuss how Hebrews 12:1-2 can help give perspective.
