Summer Trip Parent Meeting- The Overview

Nate Hellum   -

If you are a parent of an 8th-12th grader, you may have joined us yesterday as we talked about this Summer’s “High School Summer Trip options”. However, if you were unable to make our parent meeting (whether via ZOOM or in-person) we wanted to give you the chance to A. Get the info needed, and B. Give your input by filling out our short survey (by short, we mean 10 seconds).

First, we would encourage you to download the packet here labeled “HS Summer Trip Parent Meeting”. This packet will contain lots of basic and more complex info about each trip. You may be thinking to yourself, “Wait, did he say, ‘each trip’?” and the answer is yes, I did.

Trip Options

This year we have two trip options. This does NOT mean we will be taking two trips, but what this does mean is that we currently have two summer trips on the table as options.

Trip Option 1 is Mexico. This would be the third time we have gone on this trip, however, as you will see in the packet, there are some questions about Mexico we currently are unable to answer simply because it’s just too early to know.

Trip Option 2 is a new option for our Student Ministry. It is run by a ministry called CIY, and they are running a conference-style trip in multiple cities on multiple weekends of the Summer. The one we are selecting as an option is in Cleveland, Tennessee. Since this option is in the US and run by a high-level ministry whose primary job is to run these conferences, their COVID precautions are much more precise, however, this trip doesn’t have the same rapport our Mexico trip has.

Final Step

What we need from you, as parents, is to read through these options, and let us know how you are processing through them. Are you comfortable with the Mexico trip, CIY trip, both, or neither? Any of these answers can help us determine which trip is best for our students this Summer. Take some time to fill out this survey.
