Look Up!  Our future with Christ is so bright

David Staff   -

An optimist, a pessimist, and an engineer were all shown a 24 ounce glass with 12 ounces of water in it.  Each was asked for an evaluation.

The optimist looked and said, “the glass is half full.”
The pessimist looked and said, “the glass is half empty.”
The engineer looked and said, “there’s twice as much glass as you need.”

Hmmm.  So, what do you see, or sense, when it comes to the “glass” which is Christ Community Church of Ames, Iowa?

My view.  I see the next ten years for Christ Community Church as bright and full as can possibly be.

Here are 7 reasons why.

First, we have a great Savior-Lord who is passionate for this church to shine as it holds forth the good news which can transform people’s lives.  It will be His presence and power, mediated through the Holy Spirit, to the glory of the Father.

Second, we have a clear mission for life-change through disciple-making.  Our disciple-making is grounded in the vibrancy of loving relationships, Christ-centered relationships.  This dynamic changes and shapes people for eternity.

Third, we have a body of disciples who love God and love each other.  Give this church fellowship a chance, and you will fall in love with it.  More and more I see God’s love flowing through us toward those outside of Christ, especially toward those from around the world.

Fourth, we have pastoral leaders, ministry staff, board members, volunteer leaders and servants all who are committed to “maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  The energy of being aligned in mission through the Spirit’s power is a treasure to be guarded and a resource to be unleashed.

Fifth, we have a divine revelation in Scripture to wisely and supernaturally guide years of ministry effort ahead.  The Spirit’s voice in the Scriptures, combined with obedient hearts, invite the pouring out of God’s blessing.

Sixth, we are situated in a growth corridor between north Ames and Gilbert.  The future is very bright to make a substantial spiritual impact in these key communities, and beyond.

Seventh, we have a humble, new leader and his gifted companion-bride.  What a blessing to have Kyle and Danielle in this new season of Christ Community Church life.  Our call is to be, night and day, on our knees for them.

“Lord Jesus, Your goodness to us is without measure.  Love through us.  Reach through us.  Anoint afresh our new leader.  Build your church here in the days we have left, even as we eagerly await your return.  Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.”
