Lord, find us faithful.
Through our teaching series in Nehemiah this fall, the importance of faithfulness has come up multiple times. We have watched Nehemiah, and the people faithfully commit themselves to work on the walls and then to follow God with their whole lives as a covenant people. The way we express that reality is that we are to follow Jesus in a life-defining way. But, as we’ve said before, that is easier said than done. Being faithful does not happen by accident, nor does it mean that we are perfect. Faithfulness is a forward-looking trust that is rooted in God’s past provision. Again, faithful people aren’t perfect people, they are people that see God’s way as better than their own, and they intentionally cooperate with God’s plans and purposes. What will that involve? It means that we will be faithful with our time, talents, and treasure.
When we kicked off the series in September, the Gebhart’s shared in service about how following Jesus is better than their own plans. That doesn’t mean that life is easy or that we won’t struggle. Take some time, and hear their story of faithfulness and how Jesus is making a difference in their family.
Lord, find us faithful.
