Serve News…

Our Local Matters: Common Good campaign is in full swing! This last Sunday, many gathered in G2 to hear more about human trafficking, Wings of Refuge and how we as followers of Jesus can partner with organizations in town to fight against this challenge in our community. If you were unable to join, we have three more Sundays of opportunities for you to come and hear about! This upcoming Sunday, November 12th, we will be hearing from Obria and Four Oaks on the topic of unplanned or crisis pregnancy and foster care. If you or someone you know is interested in this topic, invite them along to hear more! In following weeks we will hear about housing insecurity and rent assistance from a local expert at The Bridge Home (Nov. 19th) and resource insecurity and Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC) with a local expert from Overflow Thrift Store (Nov. 26th). We will meet every Sunday in November at 10:45 in Gather 2, after Classic Service.

Ames and Story County is a great place to live. So great, in fact, that it can be easy to imagine real, immediate challenges as “out there” somewhere. While our share of these struggles doesn’t look quite the same as places we see and hear about all the time, they are still here. And very real for those facing them. Our address is no accident. God’s call to care for our neighbors is most clearly seen within our own zip codes.

As a reminder, there is no need to sign up. Come for one of particular interest, or all.
