Gospel [good news]

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Now I make known to you, brothers, the gospel which I preached to you, which you also received, in which you also stand, by which also you are saved. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that

Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day, according to the scriptures, and that he appeared… [to many witnesses].

What this means: anyone can be saved [from the penalty sin deserves] by admitting separation from God because of sin, understanding that God the Father sent Jesus Christ to pay the penalty sin requires, believing that Christ’s death was/is for each individual personally, receiving God’s gift of forgiveness in Christ to be in relationship with God. God adopts every person [who admits their sin and trusts Christ work for them on the cross is the only way] into relationship with him as their Father. With Christ, believers have the privilege of being heirs to God’s glory. But as many as receive Christ, to them He gives the right to become children of God, even those who believe in His name… [John 1:12]

Basic Biblical Truths

One God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Completely God, completely man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to Scripture. He arose physically from the dead, ascended into heaven, where He is an advocate on our behalf at the right hand of God

Jesus Christ, our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect ALL-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute our only ground for salvation.

Convicts the world of it’s guilt but regenerates sinners. So in Him people can be adopted as heirs in God’s family. Holy Spirit then indwells, guides, instructs, equips, comforts and empowers believers to live as saints.

Comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone, united by the Holy Spirit. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, though not the means of salvation, visibly & tangibly express the gospel while nourishing believers.

The scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine & final authority for Christian faith and life.

Created in the image of God, Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan. By nature we human beings are sinners, alienated from God, under His wrath, in need of a savior. Only by God’s saving work through Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled, renewed.

Justified by faith, commanded to love God supremely and others sacrificially, live out faith with care for others, compassion toward the poor, justice for the oppressed. With the Word of God and power of the Spirit, we are to combat spiritual forces of evil and make disciples of ALL people through word and deed.
