The Incredible Joys of the Body of Christ
Someone named Jon Foreman said it well: “My dying planet needs to see what the body of Christ looks like.”
I’d say, “It needs to see the Christ Community Church body of Christ.”
These have been days of restriction, of pandemic infection, of grievous personal loss. A good number of our “family” have been suffering, battling the frustration of this compromised world, trying to keep their eyes on Jesus.
But what has made the difference—over and over again—has been the power of love and self-sacrificing effort by the Body of Christ. Day in and day out, week in and week out, we are seeing Jesus body—Christ Community Church—rise to the challenge of loving and blessing others who have faced some of the most extraordinary challenges of Christian living.
Praise God For…
Praise God for hospitality servants! Praise God for the shepherds of our Connect Groups! Praise God for those who are making and bringing meals, spending extra time on their knees in intercessory prayer, making the extra phone call, listening to the cries of weary hearts, encouraging and lifting up each other in the dead of winter. Praise God for those who work diligently behind the scenes to make the operation and availability of our campus increasingly open for ministry.
Praise God for the flow of the Spirit through us. For those who allow God to “make their day.” Sharing and supporting one another in the tough stuff. Prayerfully looking for opportunities to welcome someone closer to Jesus. For those eagerly stepping into serving roles. For others who are giving sacrificially to the mission.
Those who keep the gospel at arms length, who rehearse a thousand excuses for staying away from “the church,” who dismiss the power and beauty of Jesus body in action—how very much they miss!
May I commend you, the Christ Community Church body of Jesus? You are the best, and you are showing the best of our Savior and Lord’s love to a dying world in desperate need of His life.
